Join us for an evening of poetry with Su Hwang and Michael Torres. These two emerging poets have both recently won major literary awards (some that haven't even been announced yet). They will read poetry from their forthcoming debut collections.

Su Hwang's debut poetry collection Bodega is forthcoming from Milkweed Editions in October 2019. She currently teaches creative writing with the Minnesota Prison Writing Workshop, helps out at Motionpoems, and is the co-founder of Poetry Asylum with poet & activist Sun Yung Shin in Minneapolis.

Michael Torres was born and brought up in Pomona, California where he spent his adolescence as a graffiti artist. His poetry has appeared inPloughshares, The Georgia Review, Water~Stone Review, Southern Indiana Review, and online as The Missouri Review's Poem of the Week, among others. He has received grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Jerome Foundation. Torres is a VONA alum and a CantoMundo Fellow. Currently he teaches creative writing at Minnesota State University, Mankato and through the Minnesota Prison Writing Workshop. Visit him at: michaeltorreswriter.com
