Description
An opening reception for "Permanent? Senior Show 2008" will be held as part of Honors Day. The reception is free and open to the public. "Permanent? Senior Show 2008" will be on view at the Hillstrom Museum of Art from May 3 through June 1. The exhibition will highlight the student careers of twelve studio art majors of Gustavus Adolphus College and demonstrates the diversity of styles and approaches taken by the artists, some of whom intend to continue studying or working in art after graduation. On display are works by Danny Blacker (from Apple Valley), Stephanie Buresh (from Jordan), Erin Dinsmore (from Hammond, Wisconsin), David Goldstein (from Plymouth), Whit Hohman (from Roseville), Natalie Larson (from White Bear Lake), Kasey Lyng (from Eden Prairie), Shawna Mullen (from Cambridge), Zach Newman (from Minneapolis), Kelsey Plucker (from Welch), Nathan Schram (from Detroit Lakes), and Song Thao (from St. Paul). Each artist is represented by her or his artwork and also by a personal statement reflecting the student's artistic goals and aesthetic philosophy. The exhibition was selected from a group of submissions by each artist, and the jurying process was carried out by the art faculty at Gustavus. The installation of the exhibit was executed with assistance from the students, and a number of the works on view are being offered for sale.
