Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) CourseMarch 17, 2015 at 5–7:30 p.m.
This eight-week course is modeled after the pioneering and highly successful work of Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD, University of Massachusetts Medical School. It helps participants cope with more ease during stressful times, enhances ability to comfort the physical body, increases awareness of the mind's influence on the body in health and illness, and offers greater clarity in taking care of one's wellbeing. Especially helpful to those who experience stress, cancer, GI distress, headaches, heart disease, chronic pain, high blood pressure, asthma, fibromyalgia, diabe- tes, skin disorders, anxiety and panic, fatigue, and sleep disturbances. Participants will practice seated meditation, body-awareness medita- tion, moving meditation (gentle yoga), and explore mindfulness in one's daily life. Presented by Elizabeth Power Hawkinson, Mayo Clinic Social Worker and MBSR facilitator.
