The 2004 MAYDAY! Peace Conference will address the topic: "The United Nations at the Crossroads." Events include:

9-11 a.m. -- Registration in the O.J. Johnson Student Union, main level

9 a.m.-4 p.m. -- Resource Center in the Jackson Campus Center, main level

9 a.m.-9 p.m. -- A Quiet Space (meditation room) in Linner Lounge

10 a.m. -- Welcoming service in Christ Chapel, including the conferral of an honorary degree upon Florence Sponberg and the opening keynote address by Dawn Calabia, former deputy director of the U.N. Informational Center in Washington, D.C.

11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. -- Lunch break

1 p.m. -- Afternoon panel in Alumni Hall: "What Role for the United Nations: Humanitarian Agency or Global Police Force?" with Peter Vrooman, deputy political counselor, U.S. Mission to the United Nations in New York, and Arlen Erdahl, former U.S. Congressman (Minnesota), representing the United Nations Association of Minnesota

2:15-3:30 p.m. -- Workshops:

"Roundtable Discussion with Afternoon Speakers" in Alumni Hall facilitated by Gustavus Model U.N. students and Mimi Gerstbauer, MAYDAY! committee member

"UN 101" in the Dive facilitated by Dawn Calabia and Amy Beightol, MAYDAY! committee member

"The United Nations and the Indigenous Peoples: A Sami Perspective" in Linner Lounge facilitated by Krister Stoor, visiting fellow in the Department of Scandinavian Studies

4 p.m. -- Closing ceremony and reception on Eckman Mall
