Description
Nobel Laureate, Dr. Leon Lederman, the Pritzker Professor of Science of Physics at Illinois Institute of Technology and former director of Fermilab, will give a lecture entitled "Why Did the U.S. Collaborate to Build an 8 Billion Dollar Particle Accelerator?".
Come and learn why thirty nations (including the U.S.) collaborated, sharing substantial fractions of their research budgets and a huge investment in human resources to build the world's most powerful particle accelerator. About 800 U.S. physicists will participate in the research at the new "LHC" device, which is located on the border between Switzerland and France.
