Description

Author, nonprofit executive, and activist Kevin Winge will be on campus Monday, Dec. 7. Winge, the executive director of Open Arms of Minnesota and author of "Never Give Up: Vignettes from Sub-Saharan Africa in the Age of AIDS," will give a public presentation, "Nourishing Social Change: Everyday Acts that Impact the World". While on campus he will also visit several classes, offer the homily in Daily Chapel, and be available for informal conversations with students and employees throughout the day.

As part of his 2002 Bush Leadership Fellowship, Kevin earned as Masters' Degree from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and worked in South Africa, establishing programs for people living with HIV/AIDS. Based in Minneapolis, Kevin travels and speaks extensively on the subject of HIV/AIDS and the national and international disparities in access to health care, and makes frequent trips to South Africa where he continues his work to educate and bring hope to people living with HIV/AIDS.
