Description

Kaleidoscope: Senior Show 2009, will be on view at the Hillstrom Museum of Art from May 2 through May 31, 2009, with an opening reception on the annual Honors Day of Gustavus Adolphus College, Saturday, May 2, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The exhibition highlights the student careers of ten studio art majors at Gustavus and demonstrates the diversity of approaches and styles of the artists, some of whom intend to continue studying or working in art after graduation. On display are works by Randi Dettling (from Cottage Grove), Hannah Erickson (from Plymouth), Elizabeth Faldet (from Decorah, Iowa), Erica Larson (from Hibbing), Anne Pearce (from Waukesha, Wisconsin), Emily Pickford (from Minnetonka), Tania Schueller (from Brooklyn Center), Alex Stassen (from Ogilvie), Brent Suski (from Albertville), and Mai Yang (from Minneapolis).

Each artist is represented by her or his artwork and also by a personal statement reflecting the student's artistic goals and aesthetic philosophy. The exhibition was selected from a group of submissions by each artist, and faculty from the Department of Art and Art History served as jurors, choosing the strongest works from each artist. The installation of the exhibit was executed with assistance from the students, and a number of the works on view are being offered for sale.

Regular Museum hours are weekdays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and weekends 1 p.m. to 5p.m.
