Jay Walljasper Speaks at Gustavus.

Jay Walljasper, award-winning journalist, author, and activist on community and urban issues, ecological and social sustainability, and "the commons ewill give a public lecture Tuesday, April 5th at 7:00 pm in the Heritage Banquet Room. He will speak about his latest book "All That We Share: A Field Guide to the Commons eand the Minneapolis-based organization OnTheCommons.org, a citizens' network that highlights the importance of the commons and promotes innovative commons-based solutions to create a brighter future. He will also speak in Chapel, visit classes, and meet informally with interested students, faculty, and staff over meals and throughout the day. Sponsored by the Center for Servant Leadership. Jay Walljasper chronicles stories from around the world that point us toward a greener, more equitable and more enjoyable future. Jay is editor of OnTheCommons.org and a Senior Fellow at the Project for Public Spaces, a New York-based organization that helps citizens enliven their communities by improving public places. He is also a Contributing Editor of National Geographic Traveler, reporting regularly on sustainable tourism initiatives. Walljasper is the author of The Great Neighborhood Book (2007) and Visionaries: People and Ideas to Change Your Life (2001). His experience includes being editorial director and editor of Utne Reader, executive editor of Ode magazine, and a travel editor at Better Homes & Gardens.
