It's Not About You...Or Is It?: How to be a Socially Responsible FacilitatorSeptember 12, 2014 at 1–3 p.m.
This event is for Peer Educators from Multicultural Student Programs & Services only.
The Rev. Dr. Jamie Washington will be doing a facilitation for this group of student leaders in order to prepare them for group dialogue and peer facilitation situations.
Workshop Description: Facilitating discussions around diversity, social justice, and inclusion can be difficult. Engaging in these discussions can be especially challenging when people are not self-aware about their own oppression, privilege, triggers, and intersecting identities. In this workshop, students will: build capacity for facilitation around multicultural topics, gain skills in reflection and introspection, as well as learn coping mechanisms for how to manage their emotions when triggered during a dialogue.
