Artist/activist Iris Parker will give a lecture entitled "Africans & Photography: We wish to tell our own stories, now! e Iris Parker lives and works in Johannesburg, South Africa as a teacher and mentor to emerging photojournalists and documentary photographers exploring issues of identity, gender, family and community. She will discuss her work with these emerging South African photographers as well as her own current projects. Ms. Parker's current projects include the contribution of a photo essay to the Apartheid Archive Book Project done in collaboration with Witwatersrand University, and the installation project Weave Woven: Notions of beauty in a colonized head.
