Inaugural Symposium: The Future of the Liberal ArtsOctober 1, 2014 at 7–8:15 p.m.
One of the signature pieces of the inauguration will be this academic event where representatives from a wide range of Gustavus constituencies - student, faculty, staff and alumni - will each present a short talk related to the "future of the liberal arts." From the sciences to the fine arts to the humanities, these outstanding, representatives of Gustavus will articulate how the future needs of society and the Earth will require leaders with an education rooted in the liberal arts, the bedrock of a Gustavus education. Speakers will provide their prediction our future and how a Gustavus liberal arts education will be relevant and important. The audience's questions will be answered at the end.
