Greetings! From the Gullah Geechee Corridor (a presentation by D.E.E.P)May 12, 2016 at 7–8 p.m.
Description
This Spring break the Diversity Education Exploration Project (D.E.E.P) went to the Gullah Geechee Corridor on the islands off of South Carolina and Georgia. This Gullah Geechee culture was formed by African slaves on plantations located on those islands. Their isolation to the mainland allowed them to preserve African traditions and form customs by combining their languages, and African practices. This is a culture specific to the U.S. and will die out in the next 20-50 years. Come hear what we have learned and get information about next years trip!
Snacks and Beverages will be provided!
