"God's Purpose & Our Role In the World," Exploring Religious Questions Minicourse (non-credit)February 28, 2011 at 7–9 p.m.
Church Relations and the Religion Department bring a new in-depth minicourse series for winter 2011 with "God's Purpose & Our Role In the World." This series of five classes coordinated by Dr. Darrell Jodock will examine how God is at work in the world, and what our role is as humans in the world; what is salvation? What is the significance of Sabbath rest? What role does nature play? Of what importance is the community of faith? Of what importance is a relational understanding of the self? To what are we called? The course is for anyone who seeks a deeper understanding of the concepts of creation, justification, the image of God, vocation, salvation, and dominion. Dates are Feb. 21, 28, March 7, 14, 21 (snow date March 28). Instructors will include Darrell Jodock & Blake Couey (religion), Chris Johnson (vocational reflection), Jim Dontje (Johnson Center for Environmental Innovation), and more. Registration deadline: February 14. Cost: 35/person (Gustavus student, faculty, staff, administrators exempted). A registration form is available on line.
