Festival of St. LuciaDecember 12, 2013 at 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Festival of Saint Lucia marks the beginning of the Christmas season in Swedish custom. The festival is celebrated annually at Gustavus with a chapel service featuring a court of five sophomore women chosen for their leadership, service to the College and others, charity, kindness, and thoughtfulness. The chapel service begins at 10 a.m. following the service, the Gustavus Library Associates sponsor a Swedish Smorgasbord at 11:00 a.m. in Alumni Hall. Tickets for the luncheon are $25 and available at gustavustickets.com or by calling 507-933-7550. Featured luncheon entertainer is Dave Kenny, author of the College's two sesquicentennial histories.
