Email Problems - Monday amSeptember 12, 2005All day
Due to some changes that were made on Friday, some new e-mail problems arose this morning. Before 10 am mail clients who were not authenticated (not - using smtp-auth at the alternate port with authentication turned on) we not allowed to send e-mail off campus. Dan has changed the configurations on the mailservers to allow this now. This seemed to affect the Macintosh Mail client the most.
Eudora users who are running an older version of Eudora (before 6.2) and have their SSL settings set to start if available, and were sending through smtp.gac.edu are now going to have problems. They need to:
Update to the newest version of Eudora - download from www.eudora.com
Set their configuration settings for sending mail to:
SMTP (outgoing) server: smtp-auth.gac.edu
Using : Authentication
Using SSL
Using an alternate port - 465.
