Description

Dizhsa Nabani explores the relationship between Zapotec identity, language and daily life. This web-based docu-series traces efforts of San Jerónimo Tlacochahuaya community members, from farmers to artisans to public officials, to sustain and revalorize their Zapotec language against the pressure from anti-indigenous discrimination that has contributed to a decrease in Zapotec being learned as a first language.

Screening at 7 p.m., with discussion to follow, with members of local indigenous communities.
