Announcement: Critical Language Scholarships
Interested in studying language abroad this summer? The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is a fully-funded overseas language and cultural immersion program for American undergraduate and graduate students.The CLS Program is part of a U.S. government effort to expand dramatically the number of Americans studying and mastering critical foreign languages. Students of diverse disciplines and majors are encouraged to apply. Participants are expected to continue their language study beyond the scholarship period, and later apply their critical language skills in their future professional careers. Languages (and previous experience necessary) includes: Azerbaijani (beginning, advanced beginning, intermediate or advanced), Hindi (beginning, advanced beginning, intermediate or advanced), Indonesian (beginning, advanced beginning, intermediate or advanced), Punjabi (beginning, advanced beginning, intermediate or advanced), Swahili (beginning, advanced beginning, intermediate or advanced), Turkish (beginning, advanced beginning, intermediate or advanced), Urdu (beginning, advanced beginning, intermediate or advanced), Arabic (advanced beginning, intermediate or advanced - at least 1 academic year of previous study), Persian (advanced beginning, intermediate or advanced - at least 1 academic year of previous study), Chinese (intermediate or advanced - at least 2 academic years of previous study), Japanese (intermediate or advanced - at least 2 academic years of previous study), and Russian (intermediate or advanced - at least 2 academic years of previous study). The application is now open and is due November 23, 2016. This is a competitive application and needs to be started early!
