Description
What: "Creating Communities of Justice: An Opportunity to Discuss the Teaching and Learning of Social Justice with Colleagues," presented by Carolyn O'Grady, associate professor of education.
As we continue to reflect on the meaning and nature of our lives and work together in the aftermath of this fall's tragic events, this second in an ongoing series of conversations will focus on what it means to work for social justice or, as Suzanne Pharr calls it, commit to the "politics of liberation." Our reading for the evening is "Reflections on Liberation" by Suzanne Pharr. This reading will help us think about transformational organizing, creating communities of change, and the moral convictions that guide us in our work for social justice. Copies are available in the Center for Vocational Reflection, room 210 in Johnson Student Union (right next to the Career Center) and from members of the Working Group on Social Justice. Please stop by and pick one up, if you can - and please come for the discussion even if you're not able to get to the reading! Sponsored by: Center for Vocational Reflection, Working Group on Social Justice, Sponberg Chair in Ethics
