The weekend of June 2, 2018, will be a very special time for your family. It marks the beginning of a new and exciting stage in the lives of our 2018 graduates. We hope this site will be your Commencement resource and that the entire weekend will be a memorable one for you, your family members, and friends.

The location of the ceremony is planned for Hollingsworth Field and will be moved in to Lund Arena based on weather. The location will be announced by 10 a.m. on Commencement Saturday.

In case of inclement weather, Commencement will be held in Lund Center Arena (ticket required), with overflow seating in Lund Forum—broadcast on large screen (no ticket required).

(C. Charles Jackson Campus Center and Alumni Hall in the O.J. Johnson Student Union, if inclement weather) Free, no ticket or RSVP required

Reception Details

Following Commencement exercises, all in attendance are invited to a complimentary reception on Eckman Mall, weather permitting. Look for signs with directions to the appropriate divisional areas on the mall. No reservations are necessary and there is no cost to attend.

If weather conditions preclude an outdoor reception, divisional gatherings will be held at sites in the Johnson Student Union and the C. Charles Jackson Campus Center:

  • Education – The Dive, O.J.Johnson Student Union
    Departments of Education; Nursing; and Health and Exercise Science; and The Library. (The Nursing Department reception will be held in Linner Lounge.)
  • Fine Arts – Evelyn Young Dining Room, C. Charles Jackson Campus Center
    Departments of Art and Art History; Communication Studies; Music; and Theatre and Dance
  • Humanities – C. Charles Jackson Campus Center Banquet Rooms

6 p.m.Residence Halls Close

All students are required to be moved out of their campus residence hall room by 6 p.m. This includes signing up for a time to formally check out with a Collegiate Fell
