Description
The second Linnaeus Symposium will be held in commemoration of the 300th birthday of Linnaeus in 2007.
The schedule for the two day celebration is as follows:
Tuesday, 7 p.m.: Slide presentation by Anders Bjorling and Roland Thorstensson at the Interpretive Center.
Wednesday, 10 a.m.: Paul Alan Cox will be speaking in Chapel immediately followed by a hike through Linnaeus Arboretum accompanied by music and fanfare. A "Garden of Angels" dance will be performed.
2 p.m.: Presentation by Paula Robbins - "Pehr Kalm, a Linnaeus Disciple: North American Observations," in Alumni Hall.
4 p.m.: Presentation by Mark Plotkin - "Linnaeus, My Man," in Alumni Hall.
5:30 p.m.: Swedish Dinner Buffet, Jackson Campus Center Banquet Rooms (ticket required).
7 p.m.: Presentation by Paul Alan Cox and Hans Odöö - "Unfinished Journey: Carl Linnaeus and the Creation of Ethnobotany," in Alumni Hall.
8:15 p.m.: Panel discussion moderated by Cindy Johnson-Groh (biology) - "The State of Ethnobotany, Plant and Biodiversity Conservation," in Alumni Hall.
