Colloquium: Barbara Leibundguth, FluteMarch 17, 2019 at 3:30–5 p.m.

The Department of Music presents Barbara Leibundguth, flute, accompanied by Elizabeth Mueller Grace in concert at Bjorling Recital Hall.

About the performer:

Barbara Leibundguth has performed as principal flutist with major orchestras in Los Angeles, Boston, San Francisco, Atlanta, and Houston, and was a member of the Minnesota Orchestra for twenty years, including fourteen as co-principal. She was also principal flute with the Omaha Symphony and Opera/Omaha for eleven seasons. A Chicago native, Leibundguth graduated from Northwestern University, where she studied with Walfrid Kujala of the Chicago Symphony. She also studied with French flutist Marcel Moyse for six years, both in the US and Europe. Leibundguth attended the Marlboro, Blossom, and Grand Teton summer festivals, and was featured on the Dame Myra Hess recital series in Chicago and on NPR's 'Performance Today.' She won a 2002 McKnight Fellowship for Performing Artists, and recorded a CD, 'Visionary Duos', for the Albany label. A regular sub with the Detroit and Milwaukee Symphonies and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Leibundguth is also a founding member of the A La Carte Soloists.
