Description

Koran By Heart is a documentary that follows three young Muslim children in their journey to memorize the entire Qur'an. None of these children speak Arabic as their first language making this a daunting challenge. The film reveals some of the challenges faced by the next generation of Muslims and the dynamic world of contemporary Muslim piety and religious practice. Their stories revolve around their participation in an international Qur'an recitation competition.

A brief discussion about contemporary Islam and the Qur'an will be facilitated by Kristian Petersen and Marcia Bunge.
