Description

The Center for Academic Resources & Enhancement (CARE) will officially change its name to the Academic Support Center (ASC) beginning August 1, 2019. The name Academic Support Center will be familiar to many, as it was the previous name of the office before it became CARE in 2017.

Changing the name to Academic Support Center will benefit the Gustavus community by:

  • Conveying practical information about the true functions of the office (Academic Support, Academic Planning, & Accessibility Resources),
  • Bringing clarity to the office identity by adopting a name that is similar to those found at other colleges and universities, and by
  • Providing the campus a succinct, easy to remember, and well-respected name for the office.

We will continue to operate using the name CARE for the rest of the spring semester and into early summer, in order to avoid confusion for our current students. Printed and online materials will be edited early this summer, with the name change becoming official on August 1, 2019.

In the meantime, you can continue to expect our same enthusiastic commitment to student retention, access, and academic success. Thank you for your support and patience during this transition!
