Description

Join us on at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, in Wallenberg Auditorium, Nobel Hall, to honor Darrell Jodock in his retirement as the Bernhardson Chair of Lutheran Studies at Gustavus. This event will feature a lecture on an area of scholarship that he particularly enjoys: Jews and Christians have been interpreting some of the same scriptural texts for the last two thousand years -- what role has the interpretation of scripture played in ongoing relationships and conflicts, and how should we interpret scripture in light of each other today? Esther Menn of the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Chicago will address this topic, followed by brief responses from Rabbi Barry Cytron of Macalester College and David Tiede, president Emeritus of Luther Seminary.

Darrell Jodock joined the Religion Department faculty in 1999. His areas of research include Lutheran Studies, Christian-Jewish Relations, History of Christian Though, and Nineteenth Century Theology.
