Premier Gallery presents All That Jazz Paintings of jazz legends by David Rickert Through December 27, 2006 (M-F 8 am to 5 pm)

Rickert's series of abstract expressionistic paintings capture the spirit and personality of jazz musicians and the mood of their music. Inspired by art and jazz of the '60s and '70s, the portraits meld a loose interpretive style with vivid colors.

The Gustavus Jazz Lab Band, leading jazz ensemble at Gustavus Adolphus College, Saint Peter, Minnesota, will be in concert at Premier Gallery. The program showcases the extensive variety in jazz, including music from the big band era, to fusion, to that of contemporary jazz musicians. Directed by composer and trumpet soloist Steve Wright, the band has toured coast to coast and has performed with jazz artists Frank Mantooth, Allen Vizzutti, Dick Oatts, the Hornheads, and Marvin Stamm.

The reception and jazz sets are hosted by Kelvin and Diane Miller '73 '76, alumni of Gustavus bands. Reservations are required. RSVP to 612.338.4541 by Friday, November 10.
