Description

African Night is a celebration to learn about African culture, music, food, heritage, and clothing. This year the theme is "Bringing Africa to Gustavus". The event is free and open to the public.

African night is an annual event that is sponsored by the Pan-Afrikan Student Organization (PASO). PASO is a Gustavus student-led organization that is dedicated to embracing and celebrating African culture by using events as an outlet to educate the community.

The event will include dance and musical performances from Guinea, Tunisia, Egypt, Rwanda, and more. Food will be prepared with influences from Somalia and Ethiopia. Along with fine arts and cuisine, there will be a fashion show in which students will wear traditional clothing representing different parts of Africa, as well as a key educational aspect to the evening.

Last year the event attracted more than 400 visitors from throughout Minnesota, including St. Peter, Mankato, the Twin Cities, and St. Cloud.
