Honor HandbellMarch 16, 2024

The Gustavus Honor Handbell Festival brings together handbell musicians for a full day of ringing. Students will ring with members of the Gustavus Handbell Ensembles, master various techniques through breakout sessions, and work with Dr. Chad Winterfeldt in a mass choir setting. All ringers will participate in an afternoon concert after enjoying a day of making new friendships, ringing challenging repertoire, and exploring the music program at Gustavus Adolphus College.

Please consider registering in this festival. Registrations are due on Friday, March 1. If you have any questions about the festival, please contact Dr. Chad Winterfeldt.

Who are the musicians that I will be working with?

Chad Winterfeldt

Chad Winterfeldt

Chad Winterfeldt is Cantor of Christ Chapel at Gustavus Adolphus College, where he oversees all musical activities in the Chapel and teaches in the Department of Music. Trained as an organist, he has worked as a church musician since the early 1990s. His first handbell experience was in Houston, Texas, where a lovely crew of seven introduced him to two octaves of handbells. At Gustavus he leads 3 or 4 ensembles of ringers, including the campus favorite “Disney Bells,” a group dedicated solely to the performance of Disney tunes. Chad is currently the Minnesota South Sub-Area Chair for Handbell Musicians of America Area 7.
