Who should I ask to see?

 
 

A Provider

A provider can prescribe medications and will see students for:

  • physical
  • sore throat (if not improving after 48 hours)
  • urinary tract infection
  • depression/anxiety
  • STD testing
  • pap smears
  • begin birth control/talk about options
  • ear ache
  • pink eye (if painful and itchy for 24 hours)
  • mononucleosis
  • bronchitis
  • wart treatment
  • mole removal
  • pre-op visits
  • influenza (rapid onset, aches, chills, high fever)

A Nurse

Can provide over the counter medications and will see students for:

  • immunizations (HPV, Td, Hep A & B, Mantoux)
  • general health questions
  • refill birth control (if prescribed through Health Service)
  • questioning whether to see a provider
  • Plan B
  • pregnancy test
  • suture removal
  • sprains
  • abrasions
  • burns
  • rash
  • cold/congestion
  • temperature taken
  • stomach flu

These are broad categories that are subject to change by Health Service. Nurse appointments may be referred to provider as necessary.
