Born and raised in Clarissa, Minn., Katie studied English and Communication Studies at Gustavus. Upon graduation, she served as an AmeriCorps volunteer for two years with College Possible, a college access and success non-profit headquartered in St. Paul.

At College Possible, Katie guided 40 motivated low-income students at Highland Park Senior High through the college and financial aid application processes through an intensive after-school curriculum.  In addition, she planned and coordinated events for College Possible’s mentoring program, partnering with over 200 mentors and mentees at Highland Park Senior High, Columbia Heights High School, and Robbinsdale Cooper High School. Her time at College Possible ignited her passion for educational equity and closing the achievement gap.

As an alum, Katie can personally attest to the value of a liberal arts education at Gustavus. She is excited to be back at her alma mater helping students navigate the college search and admission process. While at Gustavus, she was involved in GACTV, Firethorne, Gustavus Ambassadors, Communication Studies Club, Sigma Tau Delta, and Forensics.

In her spare time, she enjoys reading, writing, going to concerts, camping, and watching documentaries.
