Heidi Carlson is entering her 21st season as an assistant coach with the Gustavus Adolphus women’s tennis team. In addition to her coaching role, Carlson also serves as the director of the Swanson Tennis Center.

A native of Hutchinson, Minnesota, Carlson graduated from Gustavus in 1993 with a degree in elementary education. During her Gustie tenure, she built up a decorative resume with the women’s tennis team, as she was an All-Conference singles and doubles selection in each of her four seasons, an ITA Midwest Regional singles champion in 1992 and 1993 and was ranked No. 1 nationally in doubles in 1992-1993. In addition, Carlson took third place at the NCAA Individual Tournament in 1993, was an All-American selection in both 1992 and 1993, and helped her team to four NCAA Championship appearances, including winning the NCAA National Title in 1990, placing second in 1991 and 1993 and fourth in 1992. Carlson was also inducted into the Gustavus Athletlics Hall of Fame in 2010.

Carlson also served as the team’s head coach in 2009, where she led the team to a 21-8 record and an MIAC Championship.

Heidi and her husband, Jon, live in St. Peter and have three daughters Cal (20), Grace (18) and Josie (14).
