Holmseth has been one of the most highly regarded high school coaches in southern Minnesota for many years. In fact, his Blue Earth Area teams won 360 games while he was a head coach, and then in 2014, the Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association honored him by inducting him into the MBCA Hall of Fame. During his 23 years as head coach, he was the winningest coach in the South Central Conference and his teams won several conference championships. His teams won six sub-section titles and he was named Section Coach of the Year five times. Holmseth has served in leadership roles promoting Minnesota high school basketball by serving as President of the MBCA in 2003, and section representative on the executive board for several years. In addition to basketball, he has coached football, golf, and track and field. As Blue Earth’s head girls’ track and field coach in 1985, Holmseth’s team won the State Class “A” title.
