President Cabinet Summary

January 30 Cabinet Meeting Summary

1. Associate Vice President for Human Resources Julie Kline was present to discuss revised and new all-College policies (non-discrimination/AA/EEO policy and anti-harassment and anti-bullying policy). Julie will make revisions based on suggestions by Cabinet members.
 
2. President Bergman requested that Cabinet members encourage their colleagues in their respective divisions to attend the programs associated with Employee Enhancement Days next week.
 
3. Members discussed last week’s Board of Trustees meeting activities, including committee and group meetings.

4. Members approved a full-time Student Life replacement position (Director of the Counseling Center).

Student Office Hours…an opportunity for current students to meet with the Provost. Stop by to share feedback, ask questions or enjoy a conversation with Provost Brenda Kelly. All meetings will take place in the Provost’s Office on the main floor of the Carlson Administration Building.
The following dates and times are available as walk-in meetings on a first-come, first-served basis. No appointment necessary. Meetings can be with individual students or with groups of up to three students. To accommodate as many students as possible, each student or group will have about a 15-minute visit.

Post Office Hours for Touring Week...

The College Post Office will be open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. February 5 to February 9, 2018. The mailroom and print services will be open regular hours.

FedEx Service Alerts Operations During Super Bowl LII...FedEx will be operating in the Minneapolis metro area during Super Bowl LII festivities from January 26–February 4, 2018. Some customers in the Minneapolis area may experience service delays or disruptions during this time because of government security measures in place for Super Bowl LII. They encourage all customers shipping into the area to check with your recipients to understand their locations relative to the security zones. They also encourage Minneapolis area customers to track packages on fedex.com or by calling 1-800-GO-FEDEX. The customer service teams can assist you in locating an alternate delivery location as needed. They have implemented contingency plans and our teams will minimize delays to the fullest extent possible.

Human Resources Facebook Page...The Office of Human Resources is getting social. Starting February 1, the HR team will be actively posting on its Facebook page. Obituaries

Linda Peterson, mother of Jodi Bruns (Office of Advancement), passed away on January 27, 2018. Her full obituary is online.

Off Campus Events of Interest

Camps at Gustavus...Tennis and Life Camps at Gustavus are offering partial and full scholarships to junior campers and families. Players in grades 9-12 are ineligible due to NCAA bylaws. Scholarships are awarded based on a variety of factors, including financial need, demographics, hardship, essays, and recommendations. To apply, please click here. Painting/Photograph Exhibitions...Betsy Byers and Priscilla Briggs will present dual exhibitions, "Remnants" and "For the Gods," at Rosalux Gallery February 3-25, 2018. All are welcome to the opening reception from 7-10 p.m. on February 3. In "Remnants," Byers’ paintings meditate on the changing landscape at Glacier National Park. In "For the Gods," Briggs' photographs represent environmental and economic contrasts in India.

Winter Slam...(outdoor winter demo derby) is coming to the Nicollet County Fairgrounds (two blocks from Dairy Queen in Saint Peter) at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 10. Last year, this event had about 5,000 attendees. Cost is $20 per adult. Heated beer tent and concessions. You won't want to miss it. Like the Nicollet County Fair Facebook page for all details on public events.

Polar Plunge...February 3 is the annual Saint Peter Polar Plunge. Special Olympics is the world's largest sports organization for people with intellectual disabilities. All money raised for the Polar Plunge will go directly to support Special Olympics. For more information or if you would like to participate in this years event, go to this link.
