2016 Rydell ProfessorshipFeaturing Owen Flanagan and Dawn Mikkelson
Dr. Owen Flanagan is the James B. Duke Professor of Philosophy and professor of neurobiology at Duke University. He has done work in philosophy of mind, philosophy of psychology, philosophy of social science, ethics, contemporary ethical theory, and moral psychology.
Dr. Flanagan, speaker at the 2015 Nobel Conference, returned to campus for several weeks in March 2016, to serve as the Drs. Robert E. and Susan T. Rydell Professorship scholar-in-residence.
Dr. Flanagan presented the lecture, "Destructive Emotions and How to Overcome Them: The Case of Anger." Dr. Flanagan and Dawn Mikkelson presented a lecture focused on moving from anger to forgiveness titled "#CanYouForgive." They together gave two lectures, “The Power of Forgiveness” and “Moving from Anger to Forgiveness".
