Amplifying Black Voices

We are excited to share with you a video series called, “Amplifying Black Voices”. Mason Bultje, longtime TLC instructor and supervisor (InnerCity Tennis Manager of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion), Katie Aney (former TLC Supervisor), and Mason’s mother, Laura Riness founded and produced the video project in the summer of 2020. The four 10-15 minute videos are a series of interviews with six Black community members in the Greater Mankato area, including Mason and Janet Jennings (another veteran TLC supervisor). The videos give voice to the daily experiences of community members, with the goal of promoting understanding, reflection, and conversation, as well as a willingness to examine the often-uncomfortable topic of racism.

Each Monday in February, the group will virtually host the premiere of a new video and a discussion from 7:00-8:00 PM, as well as a discussion on March 1st on, “What’s Next”. All are welcome to join and participate in the events. If you are interested, you can click here to register for free.

If you are interested in learning more about the project, you can view the first video on Youtube, subscribe to the project’s YouTube channel, read a recent article in the newspaper, or reach out directly by sending an email to amplifying.black.voices@gmail.com.
