Climate Across the Curriculum Project
While most professors at Gustavus report being concerned about climate change, a survey in 2013 showed that many did not feel confident enough to teach about the topic in their courses. In response, a group of 9 science faculty from 6 departments applied for and received external funding to run a series of curriculum development workshops. Then, these “developers” paired up with faculty “hosts” who wanted to bring climate change topics into their courses. The hosts came from departments across campus, from the humanities and arts to the social sciences and health science fields, and we published our teaching modules for anyone to use.
