Mental Health Therapist in Counseling Center

Sarah is in her first year as a therapist at Gustavus but prior to this, she had worked for many years as a school social worker in both primary and secondary public schools. Sarah takes a strengths and a “whole” person approach in her clinical work.  She believes in finding and using individual strengths to make positive changes as well as looking at all aspects of an individual’s environment when problem-solving.  Sarah utilizes solution-focused practice to help others identify personal goals and enjoys working together to reach them.  Sarah has worked with mental health issues including but not limited to; anxiety, depression, social relationship issues, adjustment issues, emotional regulation, trauma, grief/loss, stress, self-esteem and learning issues.  Sarah believes that therapy provides an avenue for a person to share his/her/their own personal story. Issues of social justice are near and dear to her heart. In her leisure time, Sarah is an avid reader, loves all things movies and is a Marvel Avenger Fan (don’t ask, she can’t possibly pick her favorite Avenger) and enjoys spending time with her family including her three children.
