Known for his easygoing manner and dry, subtle sense of humor, David will be remembered for the playful nicknames he gave to his coworkers and students. David was a former drummer, a devoted fan of the band KISS, and an avid collector of Matchbox cars.

Technology Tip

GusMail...Gustavus Technology Services is pleased to announce that in an effort to further the College's adoption of G Suite for Education, GusMail (G Suite for Education Email) is now available to all employees. This decision was made after years of experience and research with Google Apps for Education, and after offering GusMail as an alternative to Gustavus Email to many current Gustavus Employees.

GusMail offers several advantages including but not limited to:
Unlimited email storage space
Easy integration with Gustavus Google Drive
Easy integration with Gustavus Google Calendar
Quick and accurate email search
Powerful email management with GusMail filters

What is the New Google Team Drive and how can I learn more...The NEW Google Team Drive is a place for teams or departments to share, store and access files from any device, at any time. The difference between a Google Team Drive and an individual Google Drive is: you create the team drive (no limit on number of team drives you can add) and then add the members to your Team Drive once. They get access to all folders and files inside this Team Drive. If teams change, it is simple to add or delete any one from the Team Drive without compromising any of the files.
GTS highly recommends using Team Drives for shared department files rather than using your individual drive. To learn more, visit: https://gsuite.google.com/learning-center/products/drive/get-started-team-drive/ ; sign up for upcoming technology training by visiting the training schedule: https://gustavus.edu/gts/instructionalservices/techtraining.php; or contact the GTS Helpline at 507-933-6111 or helpline@gustavus.edu.

Housing Opportunity...The Lodge in Saint Peter is now open offering multiple fully-furnished living options on a nightly/weekly/monthly basis. All rooms are beautifully furnished and include most everything you should need for your stay. Cable and wireless internet included. No smoking/no pets. Significant discounts for weekly/monthly rates. View listings on Airbnb or contact Scott at smoe@gustavus.edu or (507)382-8338

J-term Housing Opportunity...I'm leading a January Term study-abroad for most of January, 2018, and am looking for someone to live in my house and take care of my cats while I'm gone. I can offer you a remote, rent-free cabin on a lake, with a wood burning stove (for ambience and extra heat, there is a propane-fueled furnace and I've pre-bought all the gas you'd need for the month), and affectionate purring creatures to pet as you think, read, or write your next masterpiece. All the comforts of home (snow blower, laundry, roads are plowed, etc.), and just 30 mins. from Saint Peter, and Mankato, and Faribault! The two things I'd ask are no smoking indoors, and no dogs (because of aforementioned cats). If you're interested in a get-away this January, please contact me.

Housing Opportunity...My home's upstairs apartment will be available to rent as of September, with the possibility of moving in Aug. 30-31 if desired. It has two bedrooms, a kitchen with lounge area, and a new bathroom. This is a self-sufficient space apart from the fact that it does not have a separate (exterior) entry. Entry is through my kitchen and up the stairs--there is a senior dog on watch who greets newcomers with some suspicion, so I am seeking someone with patience and a willingness to win her over with petting and treats. I also have a cat. Monthly rent includes all utilities and wifi and is $600 for one tenant or $650 for double occupancy. The apartment includes basic furnishings--beds, sofas, kitchen table, dresser, etc. Shared washer and dryer are in the basement. Downstairs roommates (2) are Gustavus faculty and staff. Your parking is in the driveway. There is a deck (downstairs level) and garden to enjoy, firepit, backyard chickens, and free fresh eggs in season. It's a historic home that I've been fixing up. Email me with questions or if you'd like to see pictures or arrange a showing, or drive by to see the exterior and neighborhood: 324 N 8th, a moderate walk or very short drive north of Gustavus. Contact: Annika, 507-340-1434, aerickse@gustavus.edu.
