Student Office Hours…an opportunity for current students to meet with the Provost. Stop by to share feedback, ask questions or enjoy a conversation with Provost Brenda Kelly. All meetings will take place in the Provost’s Office on the main floor of the Carlson Administration Building.
The following dates and times are available as walk-in meetings on a first-come, first-served basis. No appointment necessary. Meetings can be with individual students or with groups of up to three students. To accommodate as many students as possible, each student or group will have about a 15-minute visit.

• March 22, 2018 at 2-3 p.m.
• April 27, 2018 at 10:30-11:30 a.m.
• May 15, 2018 at 2-3 p.m.

Prospective Gusties...The Admission Office is excited to host 90 prospective Gusties and their families this Saturday, February 17 for Scholarship Day. Please join us in welcoming this high-achieving group of President's Scholarship finalists and Bjorling Music, Evelyn Young Theatre/Dance, and Art candidates. They will be on campus from 8 a.m.-3 p.m., and interviews will be held in Beck Hall classrooms and student interaction spaces. Scholarship Day activities will also be held in FAM, FAA, and the Campus Center. Please feel free to smile, help with directions, and welcome them to our campus community.

Cabaret Tickets...Tickets are now available online or by calling 507-933-7590 for the Department of Theatre and Dance production of Cabaret, directed by Amy Seham. Performances will be held February 23-24 and March 2-3 at 8 p.m. and February 25 and March 4 at 2 p.m. Tickets not sold before the event will be placed on sale one hour prior to curtain at the Anderson Theatre box office. Gustavus students and staff are entitled to one free ticket for the production. Other tickets are $9 for adults and $6 for senior citizens and other students.

Learn to Live free webinars for all employees...Starting next week, Learn to Live is offering free 30-minute stress management webinars available to all faculty and staff hosted by Dr. Russ Morfitt. These wellbeing sessions provide insight and tips for a healthier you. Morning, lunchtime and evening options are available. Webinars will be held between February 14-22 with two of the sessions presented in the Board Room - join us. Camps at Gustavus...Tennis and Life Camps at Gustavus are offering partial and full scholarships to junior campers and families. Players in grades 9-12 are ineligible due to NCAA bylaws. Scholarships are awarded based on a variety of factors, including financial need, demographics, hardship, essays, and recommendations. To apply, please click here. USPS Postal Holiday...There will be no incoming or outgoing mail (USPS) on February 19, 2018 in observance of the federal holiday. FedEx and UPS will have regular delivery and pick up.

Online Surveys using Qualtrics...Qualtrics is our new, easy-to-use online survey software that allows you to create powerful surveys. You can easily collaborate while creating surveys and share results with other others - analyzing results in Qualtrics or connecting to SPSS, Mechanical Turk, etc. Want to give it a try? Father/Daughter Dance...“Passport to Paris”: The annual Daddy-Daughter Dance will be held on Saturday, March 3, 6–8 p.m. in the Saint Peter Community Center. Get your “Passport to Paris” at the Recreation & Leisure Department. Pre-registration is $25 per couple. At the door $30 per couple. (More than two participants is an additional $5 per guest). Universal Health Care for Minnesota...Senator John Marty will speak at 7 p.m. on Thurs. Feb. 15 at the St. Peter High School. Senator Marty is the author of Healing Health Care; The Case for a Commonsense Universal Health System which proposes a single statewide health plan that would cover all Minnesotans for all of their health care needs. Movie in Mankato...Filmmaker Steven Lewis Simpson's movie, Neither Wolf Nor Dog, is coming to Mankato at the Grand Mankato 4 from February 16 for at least one week. The movie is based off the novel of the same name by award-winning Minnesota author Kent Nerburn. The sequel to this book, Wolf at Twilight, was the reading in common book for 2011.

Painting/Photograph Exhibitions...Betsy Byers and Priscilla Briggs will present dual exhibitions, "Remnants" and "For the Gods," at Rosalux Gallery February 3-25, 2018. All are welcome to the opening reception from 7-10 p.m. on February 3. In "Remnants," Byers’ paintings meditate on the changing landscape at Glacier National Park. In "For the Gods," Briggs' photographs represent environmental and economic contrasts in India.

Seeking Summer Housing...Two former Gusties, now retired, are seeking furnished housing for summer 2018 in the St. Peter or Metro area. The couple would be happy to house sit for you if you will be absent. Their needs are few: bed, bath with shower, kitchen, hopefully Internet, and maybe cable. They are non-smoking, have no pets, and are real "clean freaks." Contact LeAnn (Peterson) or Kirk Metzger if interested.

Inside Gustavus is a newsletter for Gustavus Adolphus College employees produced by the Office of Marketing and Communication. It is published weekly during the academic year (except during the week of Thanksgiving, the Christmas break, Touring Week, and the Spring and Easter breaks).
