The President’s Cabinet met on July 12 and 26, 2011, and discussed the following topics:
- The agenda and timetable for the on-campus interviews with three architectural firms for the Nobel Hall of Science renovation project were reviewed.
- A status report on the searches for the two Distinguished Professor positions was given. - The search process for the Vice President for Marketing and Communication will be initiated in early August.
- It was reported that Gustavus has been informally asked to participate in an instrumental case study concerning organizational development, specifically focusing on higher education and agility.

Kirk will be joined by Assistant Dean of Students Pete Meagher and Associate Provost Barbara Kaiser in coordinating an institutional Title IX Committee. The coordinators will attend a Title IX training program this fall.
- The agenda for the President’s Colloquium, scheduled for Wednesday, August 31, 3:30 p.m., was reviewed.
- The activities surrounding the Sesquicentennial and campaign kickoff dinner in late September, including the dinner for the Board of Trustees in the new academic building, Homecoming events, dedication of the new academic building, etc., were reviewed.
- Vice President for Student Life JoNes VanHecke shared with the Cabinet the schedule for new student orientation.
- Following a discussion about the Nobel Peace Prize Forum to be held in Minneapolis in March and coordinated by the Humphrey Institute, members discussed ways in which Gustavus can provide greater visibility to the Nobel Conference. Further discussion will be held regarding the future leadership of the Conference and how Gustavus can differentiate the Nobel Conference from the Nobel Peace Prize Forum at a future Cabinet meeting.
- President Ohle indicated that he would like the College to hold a brief installation service for Provost Braun, Senior Chaplain Anderson, and Chaplain Grady St. Dennis. Following a discussion regarding appropriate timing, members agreed that an installation ceremony for Provost Braun should be held during the opening convocation and the installation service for Senior Chaplain Anderson and Chaplain St. Dennis should be held either during the Homecoming Worship Service on Sunday, October 2 or at the Chapel service on Friday, September 30, when the Board of Trustees is on campus.
- Discussion was held concerning the mandatory observance of Constitution Day on September 17 (observed Friday, September 16). The Dean of Students Office will coordinate these activities.
