Arts & Entertainment Committee

The Arts & Entertainment Committee is responsible for planning and co-sponsoring educational speakers and events as well as coordinating trips to fine arts opportunities in the Twin Cities based on student interests.

Speakers invited to campus cover a wide variety of backgrounds in effort to engage the student body as a whole, as well as individual interest. Major speakers are invited to campus every other year, trading with the Spring Convert. Previous speakers have included:

  • Frank Warren, founder of PostSecret (May 2010)*
  • Frank Abagnale, respected authority on forgery, embezzlement and secure documents - depicted in the movie Catch Me If You Can.(May 2011)
  • Scott Dikkers, founding editior of The Onion (April 2015)
  • Steve Murphy and Javier Pena, Drug Enforcement Administration (April 2017)
  • Tarana Burke, founder of the "Me Too" movement (May 2019)

*Exception was made to the 'every other' rule.

Durring non-Spring Speaker years (even years) we will feature small to medium sized speakers, as this is not as big as the Spring Speaker year. In addition to speakers, this committee will focus on identifying fine arts (shows, museums, etc.) in the Twin Cities which we could offer trips to attend.

If you would like to join this committee or have any suggestions to help CAB improve this portion of the on/off campus entertainment please e-mail cab@gustavus.edu
