More Light
By Bryony Lavery

Henry MacCarthy, Director | Aaron Bogen’16, Original Music and Sound Design
This daring story takes us deep within the tomb of a powerful Emperor in a faraway land, where his wives that never bore him sons, have been sealed alive with the former ruler. The play examines the lives of these women and their relationships, as they struggle with moral choices and survival. A poetic, breathtaking journey of loss, discovery and empowerment.

Between Heaven and Earth: The Gustavus Dance Company in Concert
March 17-18 at 8pm | March 19 at 2pm | Anderson Theatre
Michele Rusinko and Melissa C. Rolnick, Directors
Choreographer Crystal Pite wrote “Dance disappears almost at the moment of its manifestation. It is an extreme expression of the present, a perfect metaphor for life. Dancers sculpt space in real time, working inside a form that is constantly in a state of vanishing.” Please join Gustavus faculty Sarah Hauss, Jill Patterson, Melissa Rolnick and Michele Rusinko, along with select student choreographers and guest choreographers Kemal Nance, Anthony Roberts and Katy Becker ’02, as we capture and present these fleeting moments when body and breath become dance.

King Lear
By William Shakespeare
May 6, 12, 13 at 7:30 pm | May 7 and 14 at 2pm | Anderson Theatre
Additional Student Matinee Performances to be Announced
Amy Seham, Director | Rob Gardner, Guest Artist
On the wings of soaring Elizabethan poetry, Shakespeare confronts utterly contemporary questions of identity. We witness dramatic struggles between power and madness, parents and children, honesty and betrayal. At its core, the play explores our eternal battle with that unrelenting adversary – time. Professor Emeritus Robert Gardner will join our talented Gustie actors in the title role of what many critics call Shakespeare’s greatest masterpiece.
