Max Hailperin is the author of a textbook on the principles of operating systems and middleware, and together with colleagues Barbara Kaiser and Karl Knight is a co-author of another textbook that is an introduction to computer science.  In 2002, he received Gustavus's Edgar M. Carlson Award for Distinguished Teaching.  He has also published journal articles on aspects of computer program optimization by compilers, as well as conference presentations on computer science education.
