Take a look at information from the 2012-2013 season.

Trojan Barbie*

By Christine Evans
Directed by Amy Seham
October 31, November 1-2 at 8 p.m. | November 3 at 2 p.m.

An intriguing mash-up of Greek tragedy with contemporary stories of women and war, this award-winning new play thrusts its 21st century heroine into a prisoner-of-war camp alongside such classic characters as Hecuba and Cassandra. Through an imaginative time warp that references the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as the Trojan War, playwright Christine Evans sheds new light on a never-ending cycle of violence and victimization. She explores the human cost of war with warm compassion, vivid poetry, and intelligent humor – creating a gripping theatre experience.

Physical Theatre Project*

Devised by the members of the ensemble, the Physical Theatre Project will explore the expressive possibilities of the body in the construction of commonplace narratives for an exhilarating theatre experience.

Hair*

Books and Lyrics by James Rado and Gerome Ragni
Music by Galt MacDermot
Directed by Amy Seham
February 21-22, 28 and March 1 at 8 p.m. | February 23 and March 2 at 2 p.m.

The American tribal love-rock musical is in the house! First produced in 1968, this iconoclastic anti-war musical is now a classic bursting with unforgettable songs. Since the ‘60’s, the Fifth Dimension crooned Aquarius, Three Dog Night rocked Easy to be Hard, and the Muppets did their own thing with Good Morning Starshine! Now, Gustavus students will bring their own idealism and energy to the stage in this fresh production. You’ll groove to the music, but you will also see that this show continues to have a lot to say about love, war, money, racism, and many other issues all too relevant today. Join us at the Be-In!

Grace: The Gustavus Dance Company in Concert*

Directed by Melissa Rolnick and Michele Rusinko
May 2-3 at 8 p.m. | May 4 at 2 p.m.

Writers, poets, and theologians have long tried to define the word grace. While the talented members of the Gustavus Dance Company embody the term, choreographers will explore the idea of grace in all its complexity. This year’s concert features the work of faculty choreographers Sarah Hauss, Melissa Rolnick, and Michele Rusinko, guest choreographer Katy Becker ’02, and selected student choreographers.
