Stephanie AshStaff
Steph Ash is a longtime magazine and editorial strategist, writer, and editor. She began her career at the Minnesota Office of Higher Education (Higher Education Services Office), where she produced content on financial aid and access to college. She spent much of the next twenty years as an editor for Mpls.St.Paul Magazine, working on and leading custom print, digital, and hybrid projects. She has edited magazines for the American Taekwondo Association and United Healthcare. She has also written and performed comedy and musical theater. Her novel, The Annie Year, came out in 2016 and was a finalist for the Minnesota Book Award. She is originally from rural Iowa.
She lives in Saint Peter with her husband, novelist and Minnesota State University, Mankato, professor Geoff Herbach ’92, after having lived in Minneapolis and its first-ring suburbs for more than 20 years. The two have four young adult children: two Gusties, one Mav, and one Norse. When not engaged in light parenting, she reads books, writes novels, and walks her dog, Joan.
