Ursula Lindqvist (Scandinavian Studies) took part in the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) Workshop for Department and Division Chairs, "Strengthening Department and Campus Leadership," in Minneapolis from May 22-24, 2018.
Lisa Heldke (Philosophy) wrote an article, "It's Chomping All the Way Down: Toward an Ontology of the Human Individual," that was published in THE MONIST (vol. 101, no. 3). Hedlke was also a keynote lecturer at the Perugia Food and Sustainability Conference, Perugia, Italy. Her talk was entitled "Stuck on You: Ethics in the Age of Parasites."
Stephanie Ash (Marketing and Communication) wrote a humorous essay on golf that was published on the back page of the Star Tribune Magazine's Summer 2018 edition.

Relay For Life of Nicollet County... will be held Friday, June 22 from 4 p.m. to midnight at the Saint Peter Community Center. Activities include cancer education, luminaria ceremony, kids games, food and awesome silent auction. We will also honor Lorie Siebels' memory as an outstanding Relay supporter, speaker and committee member. The silent auction is always a great success! Nearly $5,000 worth of great merchandise and gift certificates from very generous businesses and individuals. Something for everyone! Volunteers needed at food stand and with kid's games. Nobel Conference on Soil - Twin Cities Preview... Hitting Pay Dirt With the Farm Bill is a preview of the 54th Nobel Conference on soil on Wednesday, July 11 in the 4H Building at the State Fairgrounds starting with a reception at 6:30 p.m. and show at 7:30 p.m. The show is a lively interview, hosted by alumnus Tane Danger, of two local experts related to the farm bill. Then the conversation will be brought to life by The Theater of Public Policy, the nationally known improv comedy troupe that uses unscripted theater to unpack and re-imagine hard, “thinky” issues. Don’t miss this free, fun, and thought-provoking night for Gustavus alumni, parents, friends, and anyone who has ever eaten anything grown on a farm. A RSVP is requested, even though the event is free. For more information on this event or the Nobel Conference, visit gustavus.edu/nobelconference.I CAN Prevent Diabetes!...Individuals and Communities Acting Now to Prevent Diabetes with Jen Donkin, RD, CDE and Nicole Boelter, MS. Trained life style coaches will help you learn how to create a healthier lifestyle and prevent diabetes in this diabetes prevention program. Classes are held weekly for 16 weeks and then monthly for eight months. These classes will be held on Wednesdays, starting August 29, 2018 at the Helen White conference center (River's Edge Campus). Cost is $75, with incentives offered for regular participation. To register, call Jen at 934-7694.
