Daily Chapel to Become Daily Sabbath...One of the great traditions at Gustavus is gathering for a time of daily sabbath. For twenty minutes each weekday during the academic year, the campus community gathers to remember who it is, discover what matters, and be set free for love and life. Our incoming chaplains, Brian Konkol and Siri Erickson, are honored and excited to continue this wonderful tradition in ways that celebrate diversity and embrace connectedness.

To honor the Gustavus tradition of daily sabbath, the official name of this campus-wide practice will shift from Daily Chapel to Daily Sabbath. In light of this transition, each weekday during the fall semester will focus on one of five characteristics of sabbath practice: Monday - Pray, Tuesday - Discuss, Wednesday - Celebrate, Thursday - Revive, and Friday - Play. In embracing the whole campus as a sacred space, some of these sabbath activities will take place outside of Christ Chapel. More specific announcements surrounding these plans will be made soon. As stated by the chaplains, “As we collectively seek to remember the practice of Daily Sabbath at Gustavus, we do so not because we should, but because we can, for in such time together we rest, renew, and revitalize, and we make our lives count by allowing our lives to speak.”

Parking Permits...Employee parking permits will expire on August 31, 2013. New employee stickers valid through August 31, 2016 will be required for all green permit parking. Online vehicle registration is available on the Campus Safety web page. Employees will need their e-mail username and password, along with the vehicle license plate and information in order to complete the online form. Employees who register online will receive their new parking stickers via campus mail by Aug. 30. There is no charge for employee parking permits.
