Campus Happenings

Jussi Björling Memorial Concert in Jussi Björling Recital Hall... The Jussi Björling Society-USA, in partnership with Gustavus, will present a centennial concert marking the birth of the great Swedish tenor on Friday, June 24. The 7 p.m. concert in Jussi Björling Recital Hall will feature three noted Swedish opera singers: mezzo-soprano Ingrid Tobiasson, baritone Bengt Krantz, and tenor Mats Carlson. Also participating will be David Templeton and two young American singers—baritone Nathan Matticks and tenor Johnathan White. Tickets are $15 and are available at the Swedish Kontur in St. Peter and online at www.twinriversarts.org (Twin Rivers Council for the Arts, Mankato). The concert is one of the highlights of the society's three-day conference (June 23-25) on campus.

All-State Lutheran Choir... Gustavus is also hosting the Minnesota All-state Lutheran Choir in concert at Christ Chapel on Friday, June 24. Forty of the finest Lutheran high school juniors and seniors from throughout the state are on tour to 14 Minnesota cities this summer. Our Summer Snapshot visit events are designed to demonstrate Gustavus's strong academic, athletic, and fine arts credentials and give prospective students and families a “snapshot” of the overall Gustavus experience. The day includes a student-led campus tour, mini-classes led by Gustavus professors, a presentation on admission standards and timelines, financial aid and scholarship information, special-interest sessions, and conversations with Gustavus staff and students

First-Year Registration... Incoming first-year students are scheduled to meet with faculty advisers on June 28, 29, and 30 to register for fall semester courses. In addition to registering, new students will have their ID photos taken and families will have the opportunity to meet with staff from the Financial Aid Office and Student Accounts, and with the Dean of Students about transition issues that begin this summer.
