Campus Happenings
Corpse Flower to Bloom... The big news on campus this month was the blooming of Gustavus's resident titan arum, Perry. Also known as a corpse flower, this plant takes a long time to grow and bloom and emits a powerful odor when it does. Gustavus is expecting many visitors to the campus while Perry is in bloom.
'Summer Snapshot'... On one more Friday this summer—August 6—the Gustavus Admission Office will host "snapshot" events for prospective students. Our Summer Snapshot visit events are designed to demonstrate Gustavus's strong academic, athletic, and fine arts credentials and give prospective students and families a “snapshot” of the overall Gustavus experience. The day includes a student-led campus tour, mini-classes by Gustavus professors, a presentation on admission standards and timelines, financial aid and scholarship information, and conversations with Gustavus staff and students.
Off-Campus Events of Interest
Discount Valleyfair Tickets...Gustavus is participating in the “Good Any Day Discount Program” at Valleyfair. Employees may purchase tickets for regular admission (48” or taller) at $26.50 (savings of $12.49) and Junior/Senior for $17.99 to be used any day of the Valleyfair 2010 operating season. Tickets are available for purchase in the Office of Human Resources.
