Inside Gustavus November 8, 2018 | Volume 51, Number 10

Thank you... The Gustavus Advancement Office offers a big "THANK YOU" to all the faculty, staff, and students who helped with Give to Gustavus Day 2018! We received gifts from all 50 states and are still counting the totals, but the help from people across the Gustavus community made the day a wonderful success!

Dining Services Thanksgiving Baking...Over the river and through the woods and up the hill, the Dining Service bakery is getting ready to start their Thanksgiving baking. Our bakers are making delicious assorted pies, breads, and rolls. They are also making fall themed decorated jumbo cookies this year. To place your order, stop in the Dining Service Office and pick up an order form. Last day to order is Wednesday, November 14, and payment must accompany the order. May your Thanksgiving be filled with love and cheer, but also with full tummies. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you from Dining Service.

New Room Reservation System...The campus is moving to a new room request/reservation system, which is called ReServe. An important part of the new system is that all email correspondence about a room request will be managed within the system. Thus, emails about room reservations will come from @mail.reservecloud.com. We cannot change this to a Gustavus address. Some offices are starting to use the new system. Therefore, please trust and open emails from this address. For now, room requests should be made to the person in each building responsible for managing requests. This list can be found at gustavus.edu/events/reserve.

Looking for something to do during Spring Break?...The Community-Based Service and Learning (CBSL) office is looking for Gustavus faculty and staff to be trip advisers for upcoming Habitat for Humanity volunteer trips during spring break (March 30-April 7). This is an exceptional way for employees to grow in community service learning and professional development. Trip adviser guidelines are posted on the CBSL website. There is no cost to participate and all employees are eligible (see guidelines for approvals needed). Applications are online here (and on the CBSL website) and must be submitted by November 9, 2018. CBSL staff and campus Habitat for Humanity board representatives will review applications and select the individuals who meet the selection criteria. Please contact Amy Pehrson (x6011) with questions or more information about this program.

Saint Peter Weekly Newsletter...As we continue to find ways to strengthen our partnership with the City of Saint Peter we would like to share this link to their weekly newsletter. Be sure to read it for the latest information about the greater Saint Peter community.

Measure for Measure Tickets On Sale Now...Tickets are now available online at gustavustickets.com or by calling 507-933-7590 for the Department of Theatre and Dance production of Measure for Measure by William Shakespeare, directed by Amy Seham. Performances will be held November 8-10 at 8 p.m. and November 11 at 2 p.m. Tickets not sold before the event will be placed on sale one hour prior to curtain at the Anderson Theatre box office. Gustavus students and staff are entitled to one free ticket for the production. Other tickets are $9 for adults and $6 for senior citizens and other students.

Shakespeare's intriguing dark comedy Measure for Measure takes on new meaning in light of today's #MeToo movement. Isabella, a novice nun, pleads with government official Angelo to spare her brother from execution. The powerful man agrees to help—but only if Isabella will sleep with him. When Isabella protests, saying she will proclaim his corruption to the world, Angelo smoothly replies, "Who will believe thee, Isabel?" It takes an evening full of comedy, tricks, and disguises before Isabel can bring Angelo to justice. Guest artist Anne Sawyer lends her genius with puppetry to the creation of a host of vivid, entertaining characters who manipulate and are manipulated in this remarkably modern classic.
