Faculty/Staff Activities
Sheng Yang (Economics and Management) co-authored a paper with Don Altmyer, Ken Schallenkamp, and Ron DeBeaumont of Black Hills State University titled "Student Ethical Awareness as Effected by Gender and Grade Point Average." The paper has been accepted for publication in Business Education and Accreditation.
Robert Gardner (Emeritus, Theatre & Dance) is performing in Friedrich Schiller's Mary Stuart with the Walking Shadow Theatre, Feb. 7 to March 1. Tickets are available online at walkingshadowcompany.org or by calling 1-800-838-3006.
Student Achievements
Three students have spent the month of January interning in Sweden as this year's Wallenberg Scholars. You can go online to read about what Elizabeth Johnson '14, Ellen Krueger '14, and Will Metcalf '15 have been up to this past month.

- Larry Wohl (Economics and Management) was interviewed by KEYC regarding President Obama mentioning raising the federal minimum wage in his State of the Union Address.
- The Boston Globe recently featured alumnus Eric Butorac '03 following his run to the men's doubles finals at the Australian Open.

President's Cabinet Summary
The President's Cabinet met on Tuesday, Jan. 28 and discussed the following items:
- Faculty Senate Chair Max Hailperin gave a brief report on the recent activities of the Senate, including discussions regarding membership on the Institutional Assessment Committee.
- All-employee meetings were scheduled on March 20 at 9 a.m. and May 22 at 8:30 a.m.; meetings for all administrators were scheduled for Feb. 12 at 10:30 a.m. and May 2 at 1:30 p.m.
- Title IX training for Cabinet members will be conducted on Feb. 25 at 8 a.m.
- Members approved the hiring of three Student Life replacement positions (Area Coordinator, Assistant Director of Multicultural Affairs, and Assistant Director of Student Activities).

Lynda.com...Technology Services is pleased to announce that Gustavus has a limited number of licenses for full access to the Lynda.com Online Library. All Gustavus community members now have the option to access lynda.com, which teaches the latest software, creative, and business skills through online instructional videos.
Use the lynda.com app for iPhone, iPad, or Android or log in via the lynda.com website. Watch entire courses or single tutorial videos as needed, share course playlists, bookmark courses you’d like to watch, or use exercise files to follow along with the instruction as you learn. Due to the number of licenses we currently have, checkouts will be limited to 1 week. If licenses are available, an additional week can be added. More information is available online.
Provost's Listening Post...Provost Mark Braun will continue a series of informal discussion opportunities with Gustavus students. The "Provost's Listening Post" will be set up once a month at the tables on the upper level of the Campus Center. The goal is to provide a relaxed, informal setting for student questions and discussion about the College. Spring dates and times are as follows:

- Monday, March 24, 11 a.m.-12 p.m.
- Wednesday, April 16, 11 a.m.-12 p.m.

GWO in Europe...The Gustavus Wind Orchestra is currently in the middle of its international concert tour in Central Europe. You can follow the ensemble's trip by going online to touring.blog.gustavus.edu.
Moe Lecture...This year's Moe Lecture in Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies will feature Nigerian-American writer Chimamanda Adichie on March 10. Adichie is the author of of the novels Purple Hibiscus, Half of a Yellow Sun, and most recently, Americanah. This year's Moe Lecture will begin at 7 p.m. in Alumni Hall.

Congregational Outreach
Preaching in Congregations...Chaplain Grady St. Dennis will preach at Cambridge Lutheran Church in Cambridge at three morning services on Sunday, Feb. 2. Chaplain Brian Konkol will preach at Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal at the 9 a.m. service on Sunday, Feb. 2. The pulpit supply program is coordinated by Church Relations in the Center for Servant Leadership for Gustavus Association member congregations.
Retreats...Church Relations in the Center for Servant Leadership will host a weekend confirmation retreat for Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Mankato, Jan. 31-Feb. 1. The retreat program is a resource offered to ELCA congregations that are members of the Gustavus Association of Congregations.

Inside Gustavus is a newsletter for Gustavus Adolphus College employees produced by the Office of Marketing and Communication. It is published weekly during the academic year (except during the week of Thanksgiving, the Christmas break, Touring Week, and the Spring and Easter breaks). Anyone may submit items by filling out an online submission form. While online submissions are preferred, items may also be submitted typewritten on a letter-sized sheet of paper. Send "snail mail" items to: Inside Gustavus, Office of Marketing and Communication. Items must reach the office no later than 4:30 p.m. on the Tuesday before publication.
